    Exclamation swirl flaps intake manifold

    hi All
have just bought a june 2008 veccy sri 150 cdti. and am begining to worry about the swirl flap/ egr problems being posted on this site.
Are these problems resolved on the 08 model or did they resolve the problem.
Is there anything else I should worry about.

this is my first time on this site and seems to be great.

I have a mondeo ghia 130 also, the cdti is far nicer and quicker to drive but am worried about the ownership costs.

    many thanks.

    Welcome along.

Vauxhall "say" the inlet manifold has been the improved version since 2006, but it's difficult to tell if it actually has. My Astra with the same engine was a 2006 model and it was OK as far as the swirl flaps went, but still had a dodgy EGR.

thanks ZS, I hope they have changed it, i need a reliable car, I travel 100 mile each way to work. My previous 04 mondeo 130 tdci was bullet proof, just normal servicing upto 130k miles, I hope I made the right decision buying the veccy.

I think you should be ok with the 08 model in respect of swirl valves. You still have the same EGR valve as ever was but if your doing 100 mile journey (unless its nose to tail all the way) you should have plenty of opportunities to keep the cob webs out of the engine. I am sure if you give it a daily blast it will be just fine.
Enjoy. And for a little more enjoyment, consider a remap. I have had my remap for 1 year, not a hiccup thus far and drives like a V6 now.

thanks mate, but there is one think I find odd, about the drive of the veccy. if in 3rd 4th of 5th and you floor the car, its like the fly engages and then goes, its not a knock or anything like that , you can just feel it, does anyone have a similar experience.
take your foot off the eccelerator in 4th and then floor it.
