    Default Pre-facelift front bumper clips

Can anyone who has had their front bumper off please help with this? I need to release the bumper enough to get to the top bolt of the offside fog to replace it (mine's cracked and I have a replacement bought a while back from another member).

Followed the how-to on here and got the screws undone etc, but I'm stuck with the clips on the underside of the bumber. No matter if I push the centre clip up or pull down I can't get the studs to release. I'm reluctant to pull too hard in case I break them. Just how far do the centre pins need to be pushed in? (or pulled out!). Do these need much force to pull them out?

The following is a photo of the clips I mean

    Thanks in advance

Push them all the way out mate, they are just plastic rivets. Pop the centre out then pull down on the bumper to release it!!

You cant push them upwards because of the head on them, Pull the centre bit all the way downwards and out, i normally use a pair of pliers to grip the centre bit, then the rest of the rivet will come out with a wiggle.

Oh yeah!!, sorry I forgot they aren't the same as the ones on side skirts - Looks to me from the piccy that the head has snapped off that one!! The ones on mine were quite a lot wider than that!!

As Plasma said use long nose pliers and just pull the centre bit out!!

OK thanks - I was getting confused by step 2 in this http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?p=188334 how-2 and trying to push them upwards - I'll try again pulling them out this time! I'm assuming they can just be reused?

pull the pin right out, they need a good pull, do all four then ease bumper down, don't break or lose them you'll need them to refix. It is a very easy job to take the bumper off completely, three fixings in each wheel arch, two under bonnet, pull bumper out by wheel arch that's it takes about 5 minutes

Unless all three on both sides are rusted and stuck in the clips - then it's a pig of a job!! Had to drill out the screws in the end. Don't forget to undo the washer bottle pipe first too, otherwise it'll break the elbow joint - speaking from experience I'm better off left with my crayons.

Top Tip: When you put the clips back, dont use the pins in the centre, just push the main clips in and then put screws in the middle, I found that black plaster board screws are the perfect size for this, they grip enough to screw in and out correctly and hold the clip in place. If you ever need to get them off again, you just unscrew the screws and the clips fall out, no yanking pins out and smacking your knuckles on the ground

depends how big your knuckles are lol, I use a pair of wire cutters to grip under the head and then just ease the pins out
