    Default CDTi 150 issue... Please help !

    Hi, I'm hoping I can pick some brains with a problem I have with my CDTi 150 (05). For the last few weeks this problem has been getting progressivley worse, this morning was the final straw when I nearly got wiped out after pulling out of a junction (in 1st) putting my foot down only to find nothing happening, it was litterally struggling forward at about 4mph for around 5 secs until it woke up and flew off. This has been happening on and off for a while but today it was nearly all the way to work. It also struggled in 3rd and 4th to pull away, my foot was planted on the floor and nothing, I had to change gear to get a response. I've also noticed the engine is a little more 'noisier' than usual, at idle and in the early stages of acceleration, like a louder tapping noise than usual, it doesn't sound too sinister but was unsure as to whether it was linked.

    I've been reading some stuff on the site but can't find anything other than maybe cleaning the EGR valve or sorting out the 3rd valve issue ?

    Sorry to waffle but I'm stumped and hope someone can offer a little guidance...

    Any fault codes?

    I would put money on it being the EGR

    I've not noticed any lights on the dash no...

    I hope it is the EGR as that doesn't sound expensive.

    After reading some more, I think I may start by cleaning the EGR valve. It's done 40 odd thousand miles now with a lot of short trips so it won't do any harm to rule it out.

    sound's a good place to start imo mate, 9 times out of 10 a dirty/faulty egr will be the culprit...

    had exact simptoms on mine and it was the inlet manifold/ swirl flaps hope thats not the case with you mate as its expensive

    had same on mine and it was EGR valve, once cleaned you remember how fast it once was...Im in warrington if you need any help or advice, its an easy job.

    Thanks for all the advice fellas, much apprecited !!

    Wrayball's, I really hope its not the same scenario as yourself, as I really can't afford big bills at the moment...

    I'm having a go myself on Thursday/Friday at cleaning up the EGR valve, assuming the car doesn't get me killed by then.

    good luck pal while your doing the egr check the rail on the inlet manifold for oil and to see if the rail is still on
