fuel consumption on petrols

just back from a 400 mile each way trip to billing. Got a pleasant surprise. i did a steady speed of between 70 and nearer 90mph and my fuel consumption was sitting at 43.2mpg. Very happy with that for a petrol. the car was heavily laden with camping gear and beer and air con was on all the way along with stereo.

Blimey, that's pretty good for a 2.2 Graeme!! I'm very pleased when I get 32mpg from a tank on my 2.0T - but I do tend to have fun with it!!

How cow.... you werent switching the engine off and freewheeling part way were you? I get 37 absolute max in my 2.2 petrol

i even took a photo on my phone. only got 39 on the way back though i had fitted my k n filter.

Over about 60 miles in my V6 the other week on the Motorway between 60 and 70mph (M25 and M4 very busy and variable speed limits), the trip comp was reading about 36mpg!!!! - I'm happy with that!

Around town I'm currently getting about 26mpg - hot weather and the missus driving helps I think!!!! lol

I know the thread is 'Fuel consumption on Petrol', but I thought I'd post this anyway.

I took it really easy 60mph - 70mph on motorway on way home the other night. Then after I filled up had this range -



I actually got just over 500 miles from the tank. But I reckon if I could manage to take it really easy for a whole tank I could be pushing 600 miles. I just can't do it, it's not in me, I have to play. Remember I'm running at nearly 180bhp as well.
