    Default Front bumper renovation

Hi, I have just finished restoring front bumper, Black sapphire, water based paint supplied by G M was a shade blacker, after much searching and asking around found an auto paint shop that could supply perfect match but not water based. I also bought some pro-XL laquer, which looked quite matt when sprayed, had to go a week, weather was crap, so was getting prepared to rub down with 1500 wet n dry got, some meths to clean road rubbish off and when I wiped it the orange peel disappeared and a fantastic gloss was left, I couldn't believe it so rubbed another part but this time it didn't leave the glassy glaze but smoothed out all the orange peel tried another bit with plenty of meths on and again glassy glaze, however I had a tin of carplan laquer and had been advised to use that up, as the thicker the laquer is the better for rubbing down so thought okay use it then just go over with meths, job done, not so, meths wouldn't touch it so ended up having to rub all the orange peel off by hand with wet n dry, I know what I'm going to do next time I have to do a job like this, sorry no pics to show this "accident", only bumper back on car after first rubbing and polishing needless to say it still needs a lot more work

Keep up the good work mate, and while you're at it why not paint the rubber skirt black aswell. It makes a big difference.
