Default OUCH !! Bumped da Vectra :(:(

HEllo folloks bumped the Vectra last week . I was pulling out of ajunction turning right and there was a van parked half on the road and half on the pavement cudnt c up the road slowly pulled out to gain my vision an BANG !!!! . . A motor bike )(crosser) hit ma N/S/F (: . .
Fond the insurance and told them.. and i have recieved a leeter sayin that they have deemed it necessary to take further investigation into the accident circumstances (is this normal)

Luckerly the biker was unharmed just abit shook up !!

Yep It's normal, main thing is no one is hurt but i think you'll end up with a big bill for the bike.

Well without knowing the exact details, the best guess I would say could be if you had crossed the centreline, technically you were on the wrong side of the road. If the biker was also on the wrong side of the road, then both of you could technically be cited for driving without due care as you had both made a manoeuver when it was not safe or legal to do so - it can't have been safe as there was an RTI.
The letter will just be a matter of keeping you informed as it's not immediately obvious who was at fault. Bet your life the biker will be claiming you just pulled out into his lane and that he was still on the correct side of the road. Without independant witnesses to confirm the circumstances and positions of both vehicles, this one might well drag on a bit.
As long as no-one was hurt,it may well end up being put down as equal blame.

Hmm....how fast was the biker going?

If you were pulling out slowly to gain your vision, there should be no reason why the biker couldn't 'weave' round you instead of ploughing right into the side of you

Questions need to be asked mate i think....i would be really annoyed personally. (How else were you supposed to get out of that junction?)

    You cannot proove his speed,

You entered 'his' lane when u should of given way...

    Your fault unfort.

Good to hear the biker was ok.... its alot easier to repair cars and bikes.
