When I took my 08' Vec C in for it's 1st service I had a chat with the mechanic whilst having a look under the car. I asked him about long term ownership and preventative stuff. He agreed with me on the EGR valve and DPF.....the other thing he mentioned was Brake Pipes, said that they could be prone to corrosion. I was a bit suprised and I thought they'd addressed this with the Cavalier Mk 3 when they used the green coated pipes.
I was thinking maybe I would coat them with waxoil.

My local independent Motor Factor will make the pipes up for you. All I would need to do is take the old one down and they make a matching new one, didn't cost much at all.

I'm lucky I just buy a roll of brake pipe some new ends and remove and refit the pipes myself. It costs me about £20 a roll and a few quid for the ends.
I dont fancy doin my Vec as it seems cluttered underneath but I'd rather do it myself then I know it's done right!!!!

My car passed the MOT today, well happy. 9yrs old 118k.

The advisory was all brake pipes front to rear and over the fuel tank have corroded. It was an advisery the previous year so thinking should really get them replaced.

Vx garage quoted me £580.00 yes £580.00. Wow. Is it really this much or they just being greedy?

Whats the going rate people have paid?
