    Default v6 loosing oil

been using the mg lately, started the vecbum today and she was rattling, so checked the oil and there was nearly none, no idiot messages to top oil up on screen either. theres no oil underneath, after i topped her up, and run her round the block, she is as good as always. oil done just under 4k miles ago. any ideas on where its gone? no smoke, no loss of power, but i do rev all the way to red when i drive her.... ......is that it?......never really bothered me, coz oil is oil, but sum1 mentioned it can be serious....can it? thnx

If you "belt it" to the red, then it is possible that you force the oil past the piston rings and it gets burnt along with the fuel, probably why you don,t see any smoke as you should be looking out of the windscreen. As to why the No oil message did not show. I don,t know. It would be a very good idea then, to get into the habbit of regularly checking the oil, as if you drive it with NO oil in you will ruin the engine, it will seize up and be scrap.

Check your coolant header tank , the v6 has a nasty habit of bustin the oil cooler , which subsequently pumps your oil into the cooling system.
If the coolant is sludged up it's your oil cooler ( 99% sure)
If it's ok , you've just burned it off hopefully.
