    Default rear fogs

I thought one of my rear fogs had blown however I replaced the bulb and it still didn't work. I then noticed that the passenger side connector has one less wire than the drivers side and it's the drivers side one that works. Should my vectra only have 1 rear fog? It's an 06 facelift SRi

One fog is standard mate - it allows you to tell where a car is if you're in thick fog and on a motorway and all you can see are the fog lights. The fog is on the right hand side, so you know the rest of the car is on the left of it...

...or if both lights worked the car would be in the middle of them.

As Penfold said, it's normal and something you'll see on other makes too. There's only a requirement for one rear fog light - it also means it's easier to differentiate, when in thick fog (which of course it would be as nobody uses their fog lights in anything else but - if only! lol) between fog lights and brake lights.

thanks chaps, was just a bit worried since the veccy is booked in for it's first MOT a week on Mon and I didn't want it failing for one of the fogs not working. interestingly despite the lack of electrical connection there was a bulb in there!

It's going into a Vx stealer for it's MOT so hopefully they'll know it should only have 1 fog light

Yep, that one is a spare. Seriously, it mentions it in the owners' manual about it being a spare bulb.

That's because the requirement is only one has to be working.

    http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_110.htm

"The inspection of rear fog lamps is confined to the one rear fog lamp which is required to be fitted to the centre or offside of vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1980."
