Default EGR Valve Clean-WHAT TO DO???

    Guy's,

Im planning on giving the EGR Valve on my Dad's SRI CDTI 150 FL this weekend some time.

Im after your help as to what I should clean with and what I need to do and dont need to do and what to watch out for etc. Also, how long do I leave it off for....all the neccessary stuff really.

Any help and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

IS IT A FAILRY EASY JOB TO DO?

Reason for wanting to give this a clean is that it seems a little sluggish when taking off, when its going its fine.

    A big thanks in advance!

Get onto the troubleshoot section mate, its currently the number 1 topic. There's a cracking guide in how to completely re-clean it but you time and a bit of effort in doing so. A lot of carb cleaner is required as well.

I'll edit in a link if I find one!

i heard vinegar was excellent at cleaning car parts - especially slightly rusty ones... not sure how it would deal with carbon deposits though..

Yes; I soaked mine in a small tub containing petrol, for a few minutes, then used an old toothbrush to scrub it.
