    Default Service/Spanner indicator

In the manual it goes on about how you can check distance until your next service buy pressing the trip'ometer without the keys in the ignition. Mine doesn't do this

Maybe it nevers needs servicing as they didn't do anything apart from change the oil on the last one

They've taken it off flex servicing then. Next time it goes for a service, ask them to put it back on. I had to do this with mine.

Cheers 4 your answer but why would they do that? It will not be going back to V/X for a service ever as last time all they did is change the oil, they couldn't be bothered to even write in the service book what grade of oil. No air filter, oil filter, plugs, fuel filter, wiper blades, pollen filter changes etc. since the previous 20,000 service. Thing is I can't complain about it but thats another storey. V/X SLM are a bad company

They do it to make money out of us, the customer. Our cars on flexi service show anything up to 31000 miles between servicing, whereas on a standard schedule, it's 20000 or two years (?). If you are a low mileage user, they probably put it on standard servicing to get you in more often.

Just my opinion of course. I agree most dealers are useless, which is why I will not be having another Vauxhall paid for out of my pocket.

Yip. They take off the flex service to make noey actually had thisd confirmed by a friend in an Opel garage. Insist on the flex service being reinstated however check that they use the high grade oil specified in your manual. The long service intervals are only good when used with the correct oil otherwise bye bye warranty

If you do low miles wouldn't flex service get you in quicker as it takes note of short trips.

I've noticed that the car has only ever been on 20,000 or 1 year (not 2 years), I'm sure this is stated in the service book as 20,000 or 1 year which ever is first. The flex part of the service book (near the back) has not been used.

    My head hurts!!!

Can someone help clarify. When I switch the ignition on, a car with a spanner comes on and then goes out after a couple of seconds. With ignition off and I push the odometer, and the car with spanner shows, but nothing else.

So does this mean I need a service (it has been like it for a month or so now) or is it on the flexi thing and everything is ok?

It's an 04 1.9 CDTI by the way if that helps.

    Many thanks,
    Confused.

When mine was due, every time I started up or switched off, there was an oil can and a mileage underneath, that counted down the miles to the service. If I remember rightly it started at 1500 miles. If it's just the oil can, then I think it either needs oil or a service.

A car with a spanner through means ' limp home mode' when on the move. But when stationary, is probably something Immobiliser based. Either way, it looks like you'd better look for a decent dealer!

Reminds me of my Vectra B

Every service at Vx would throw up an engine management light shortly afterwards ... take it back to Vx and they would say "£50 inspection fee to read the code sir ....".

I'd say ... "just paid you £200 for service and £300 for new Throttle Body ... car was fine prior to your techs getting their hands on it .... read the code for free and reset the light"
