Default Fun in the garage & tyres

Armed with Vectra-C.com 'how too's', Haynes ,caliper rewind tool and my new torx socket set I advanced on my unsuspecting Vectra to change the rear discs & pads.
All went good, although I'd like to see the handbrake with a bit more bite...perhaps it will when the pads have bedded in ( and yes I did clean the new discs)
I changed the pollen filter, which was full of debris, the air filter (ditto) and did the airbox mod. It seems odd that VX would design a airbox that used only half the element...
I noticed that the rear tyres are getting near my limit of 2mm so, I was wondering which tyres people have found to be a good mix of grip and wear.
I have Bridgestone Turanza ER30's on there at the moment. 215/55R16 93H.
A Plymouth tyre place has recommended Avon ZB5's as they are cheaper.
    Any thoughts ?
    I have a 1.9 estate btw.
Next week, it's new front discs & pads, oil change and the dreaded fuel filter...

    Cheers
    John

On the subject of re-winders, I was suprised at the effort it to get the caliper pistons back to fit over the new pads / discs. £20 wells spent.
I needed to buy a new torque wrench for the front caliper bolts. Super tight Nm 230.
I did think about just FT but it is brakes....
