Default Does this price seem reasonable?

I've just had a quote from a local vx stealers for the following on my 3.0cdti

    Cambelt and pulley change
    waterpump
    80k service ( currently got 96k on it )

    £670 all in..

    does this seem reasonable?

I bet there are other bits to change as well but not sure yet... and I ve got a little play in the steering rack

Seems expensive to me, independant would be better. The play in the steering rack is a cheap enough fix.

Not too bad but you don't need the waterpump done as its not driven from the cambelt iirc
£200 for the service, £300+ for the belt and I know not a lot of garages want to do a cambelt on these engines for some reason as I have asked about it myself.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Seems quite a lot to me. I had a cam belt change with my last service and it was a lot less. Don't know who you are using in Preston but have you tried Edmondsons at Hesketh Bank? I live in Preston but go there. They're an independent family business and I've used them for over 10 years. Why not give them a ring and see what they quote. Their telephone number is 01772 814896. They have an internet site too if you want to see what they look like first.

    OMG

Just had the front wheels off for a puncture repair and the ****** spring's snapped! found a piece about 4" long in the rubber bit at the base of the spring... not to mention that the pads are shot both front and back...

    so now I'm looking at..

    cambelt
    waterpump
    service
    2 front springs
pads all round inc 2 rear discs

checked a few prices from independants and they wanted more than the stealers!!

bet this is gonna cost the best part of a grand now..

shall I just get rid of the damn thing...

Checking the list of items required, a warranty that includes ‘wear & tear’ is looking like a reasonable option these days ..............

Yeah got one... you try claiming on it though! - 400 quid a year.... wouldnt pay out when egr failed - cost 600 squid..

looks like the springs will be covered though... and I may get the bushes done as they are also covered..
