    Default Insignia SE stereo

Howdy folks, just joined (because I just got my insignia..pics coming soon) but seem to be having some problems with the usb connector (its beside the aux port), the car manual states u can control your ipod from it but there doesnt seem to be any simple way to enable it? Worse still there's no mention of the usb port in the radio's manual. Anyone able to shed some light on this?

(Im hoping someone isnt going to tell me its just a dummy port)

Now I'm guessing you have the SE NAV model as the DVD800 only supports the use of USB and IPods....

But have you tried reading the manual?

Its actually just the standard SE, not the NAV/DVD and I've tried reading the manual, its not referenced anywhere in it whatsoever, I guess its just a dummy port then.

hi, another newbie here. Unusual for them to install the usb socket but not the hardware for it. I had a sri nonnav demo car and that had the aux but no usb socket. Weird! Free socket anyway!lol

All Insignias come with the headphone socket, AUX IN.

If memory serves me correctly it is only the DVD800 NAV models that you get the USB socket on, and that's the only unit you can control the iPod from.

At the Millbrook day, the guy showing us the car said you could also just plug a USB Memory Stick in and it would read MP3s off that too...

You will probably need one of these :

The USB controls the ipod, the AV cables pass the audio/video. Now in your case you probably only have audio on the 3.5mm socket, therefore buy a phono to 3.5 adaptor and you should be good to go.

Cheers for all the helps folks, going by the NAV manual it has to be a dummy port, I get none of those options with a ipod or a plain ol usb stick plugged in. Waiting to hear back from the dealer to see what they say about it.

The demo se I had for a weekend had no usb port either, odd how it would be there but not work not that it matters!
