up here they usually have loads of "average speed check" signs up and down the roads with specs?
Arent they just to check and monitor the flow of the traffic, i.e so the AA / RAC road groups can warn of traffic jams ?
No.
They are the new type 2 average speed Spec cams, and these particular one's were mentioned on the PocketGPSWorld speedcam database site some time ago.
The goverment announced a while ago that it intends to roll these out across the country, as they do more than just catch speeding motorists. ie. can check if vehicle is taxed & Insured etc, besides tracing vehicles.
Can even make the tea.
