Hi - hope someone can answer this simple question, my Vectra SRi CDTi 150 is in for it's 1st service - cars 1yr old & done 15k - should I opt for the engine flush as well at an extra cost of £30 or is this really not necessary?
Thanks - J.

I wouls never recommend an engine flush.
Not for a Extra £30 no way it only costs 5 quid to buy in the shops
They must be on a good labour rate or parts mark up.
NO do not have an engine flush. In my opinion. the stuff has to disolve the "muck" so it needs to be a solvent. That then undermines the oil, and in my opioion again can damage the engine.
I looked into this with my mk4 astra as I got some engine flush free with some diesel treatment. I was advised against it because apparently not all carbon deposits are a bad thing, some may be plugging holes that might otherwise be leaking oil etc. I'm also a great believer in if-it's-not-broken-don't-fix-it!
Got to agree just drop the oil more often.
My brother did an engine flush on his car and he said it felt like a new car afterwards but sadly it went Bang shortly afterwards he blames the engine flush,so in short I WOULDN'T hth
I Think if you've done it reguarly since the car was new your ok, its when you start getting it flushed and you dont know if its previously been done at all you'll hit the problems described above.
I would steer clear of engine flushes. Why do you think they are asking you if you want it done? Cos it's good for you, or for their till receipt?
