Hello all. Just joined today. I have a 06 vectra 1.9 cdti sri 150 navi, bought it from dealer 30 mar 09 with only 20000 miles on clock. After 2 weeks noticed lack of power under 2500 revs. Yes the EGR valve. But have been told by garage none in britain. Vauxhall confirmed and said not expected until 15 May..... . Car was less than 1 month out of vauxhall warranty but they said not their problem. Dealership will fix under warrenty but would not provide car. anyone had same problem......

    Welcome.

Ring a few garages to see when they can get a EGR valve in. Worst case is you can drive it for 2 and a bit weeks.

They won't provide a car unless they have one as its the dealers decision due to the car not being undriveable. Short journeys kill the egr - which at 3 years and 20k your car has probably done. As its out of warranty your lucky they are doing it as they don't have too.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

thanks to all so far. The vauxhall garage that has the car have said not to drive the car until it has been replaced, they also have not mentioned the possibility of cleaning it.

hi scottyd, car at uncle arnolds in greenock.. so you would think with the network of garages if they had one they would get it..... i have just spoken to them and suggested cleaning egr but they said only short fix. have garage warrenty doing repair and have taken 2 year extended, so do not want to jeperdise it further down the line. Have just heard from the ford garage (across road from vauxhall) which i bought it from (yes bought a vauxhall from a ford garage!!!!) and they have said they hope to have a car for me to use by end of the day...... sounds like my continous phoning has paid off

A long shot mate but have you tried a fuel cleaner (redex for Diesel, Millers etc). Will not cost much and maybe would just be enough to free the EGR valve a bit to make it more driveable until its proper fixed. Halfords or the likes and should cost not much more than a tenner. I know the EGR valve is in the air inlet so you may wonder why I mention fuel additive but remember the EGR makes the car eat its own burnt fuel so a cleaner burn may help.
