    Default Save our retro motors.

Just signed up on this one myself, having an older motor aswell as my Vec, but i thought some of you guys may like to see this petition & possibly sign it??

    Quote:
We don't really care if nasty old smokey Daewoos end up being cubed, but we do care about real retro motors.

We believe that by restarting the rolling 25yr Historic road tax class - you now, the free one - that this will not only encourage cars to be recycled but it will also help save old cars for future generations and give hard-up motorists a real break in this nasty, deep recession.

if you agree, please do sign up and spread the word.

I'm with you on this one - restored a Volvo 1800ES many years ago now, gave a lot of people pleasure at shows, did some great publicity for Volvo and saved the manufacture of a new car for a few years thereby helping save some of the earth's resources. What did I get for it???? Zippo! The free tax disc is a small price for the nation to pay for the preservation of a bit of heritage - early Volvo 1800s were built in Linwood, near Paisley and West Bromwich!

I've signed, just got to go to my email and activate.

Done. I would even go for 35 years +, if the Gov it too hard up for the 25 years +.

In fact 30 or 35 + may seem better as then we would be calling MK3 Escorts a classic.

My Stag is a '74 model, so would even benefit from 35 year +.

Yet another thing this crap gov't interferred with, as the original conception was to have a rolling 25 years old at zero tax rate.

Anything before 1972 (i know i'm probably wrong) is tax exempt still. What is proposed is the the system be updated so that anything over 25 years old will be tax exempt. I have a 1982 TR7 so i would benifit .

But in all fairness the car will sit in the garage for about 5/6 months so having to sorn/re-tax the car would be a pita and if the car was taxed all year round we wouldn't have to worry about it.
