    Default Swirl Valve

    I guys can somebody do me a favour. I've been reading through some of the search threads about the swirl valves in the 150 and i'm now got myself worried, can comebody ease my concerns or point me in the right direction?

    I've been noticing that i have low power below 2000 revs. There will be low power then when the turbo kicks in it's away. (Now i'm lead to believe this is normal as this is where a diesel will get it's power from ?) Some of the threads i was reading through people are saying that it's the swirl valves etc... on their way out. Is this true? Or am i being daft?

    Yes and no, being a diesel it will be alot flatter off turbo than on, but it should still pull from about 1200rpm through to the turbo kicking in and beyond.

    Easiest way to check the swirls is to pop your engine cover off and have a look down the gap at the front of the inlet manifold, there is the swirl valve control bar, that should be attached to each of the four swirls (don't worry about this area being a bit gunked up).

    If that is ok, then it could be that your EGR/boost sensor needs cleaning.

    hello mate

    mine did the same when i first got it,

    no power then all of a sudden whoosh off it went

    took off egr valve completely full of kak (it had only done 18,000 miles)

    cleaned all that and boost sensor, completely differnet car now, power is steady and consistant through the range

    try it

    Cheers guys.

    I have checked the swirl valve rod/bar recently and it's still there/in place with a bit of gunk. (Is it worth trying to clean the gunky carefully?)

    I cleaned out my EGR valve not long ago, took it all apart as per How2 and it didn't make any difference that i could tell maybe i need a new one.

    what about boost sensor ?

    I have a swirl valve stuck fault would this be a solenoid?

    No, it'll be the swirl valves stuck (oddly enough).

    took my car to vx today and they told me my swirl valve has gone and will cost £920 to fix but does any1 know that afta i pay all this money is there any chance than they will go agen

    yes m8 they will go again but when no one knows, when i had mine replaced i asked the tech's that exact same question and they told me that there has been no update for the parts used so it will defo go again at some point.
