Engine type

A while ago I posted if anyone knew what engine I should have in 2006 Vectra SRI 1800. Thoughts were that it should have been vvt.But having seen pics on here of vvt showing oil cap at top RH end of head I questioned this in my head. Been out looking for some info in engine bay and located stamp on Head of z18xe,my oil cap is on LH side of head. So now thinking mine has the lesser powered 123BHP motor.

The only way it
would be non vvt is, if its an 06 reg, on the last reg of 05. But thats pushing it!

My Veccy is the prefacelift veccy 1.8 and my oil cap is on the left,the same as the later VVTi engine,there's only one i know that has the oil cap top R/H/S is the 1.9cdti (150)

VVTI 1.8 XER code engines have the oil filler on the back right as you face the engine so would say that you have the pre VVTI motor, theres a few on ebay to compare .

Not at all. 2006 First Edition 'New Vectra' (facelift) brochure shows the 1.8 as having the non-VVT engine. And full-time Traction Control on all models except the 1.8. Exactly as on the pre-facelift.

Cheers for your replies,not so concerned about BHP,She does just fine,just need to know for ordering timing belt kit as due within 8k. Would have been nice to have VVTI but hay ho next time will prob be V6 Diesel anyhoo.
