Default Engine ticking for 30 secs after start up

    Hi all,

I have this fairly loud ticking noise coming from engine after start up, It only lasts for around 1/2 minute, it doesn't matter if its hot or cold its still does it, The car is a 52 reg 2.2 sri petrol engine. it has done 136000 miles

I have just done the cam chain, But didn't replace balance chain,

    Could it be tappets?

    Any advice would be great,

    Cheers Clive

We posted at the same time, its a cams out job. Think all 16 lifters are about £100 for a set alone that's before fitting. If Benny catches this thread he will be able to tell you a more acurate price. Flushing mine helped it a bit, but with yours doing that many miles I wouldn't recommend it. You best bet is to post on the 2.2 site mate, they really know what there talking about, and if your lucky you might even find someone to do the work for you cheaper than the garages.
