Unhappy Limp mode & Emissions light

I have a 2.0DTI 04 reg, about 6 months ago I changed the air filter (Non GM) not sure if it just a coinsidence but after this the emissions light (engine shaped light in right corner of dash) came on, took it to garage to get fault codes and it showed MAF related fault. Changed the MAF meter and was still having problems, the emissions light went out after codes were reset but now on a hot day the car goes into limp mode when accelerating, it goes off when i turn off ignition and start again whilst still moving! Found a split in the turbo intercooler hose so after replacing this i thought everything would be hunky dory but its not to be!!!
Still flat as a fart when car EML is on, if the light is left on too long it then swaps to emissions light and same problem with limp mode. I am at my wits end now, any ideas folks????

I also need a new front window so comtemplating driving the car into it, kill 2 birds with 1 stone - new window, new car!!!!

The boost pressure sencor will cause that problem. Remove it an give it a clean.

Lift your engine cover off , and at the front of the engine you will see a manifold leading off to the right , just before the hose connection there is a sensor at the back of the manifold , that is your boost sensor . see pic enclosed

Also have a look at thread,s and how 2,s concerning cleaning egr valve,s and fixing faults with the vacuum system , both very common faults with the dti engine,s.

Hi thanks for you advice, I removed the egr valve and gave that a good clean today, i also checked all of the hoses for splits/damage (none found). At forst the car was driving perfect and the emissions light went out on its own but again when the outside temp got to around 14C the car/spanner light came on and the engine went into limp mode.

I noticed the boost sensor when working on car today, how do i clean it? it doesnt look like i can get into it very easy or clean it

Just remove it from the housing , 1 screw and pull only retained by rubber ring , and spray with carb cleaner and adjitate with very small paint brush (carefull it can be easily damaged ) that should be sufficent .
what set up have you got for your vacuum solenoids ? is it two on bulkhesd above radiator and one between engine and battery or two on bulkhead and one by maf filter? . the reason i ask is that the former setup is known to cause problem,s because the solenoid overheats being to close to the engine

Hi, i can only see 2 vacuum pumps, 1 between maf and air filter housing and 1 at front near battery. i have removed the boost sensor and gave it a clean, the egr valve is spotless and im still having problems with limp mode, i will not give up though!!

Bought some carb cleaner to spray in inlet manifold (which by the way is full of gunk) and also some injector cleaner to put thru the system. ordered a genuine GM air filter incase it has something to do with that too.

    Any other ideas?

    thanks

I am not saying this is gospel because i have been proved wrong in the past , but check your actuattor solenoid,s for suction .
when working normally they only pull about 0.6 bar which is just detectable with a wet finger usually.
If nothing can be detected then check backwards down the vacuum line to the next connection , this is incase the line is blocked , rare but has been known if nothing at diaframs ,then suspect actuattor solenoid,s are faulty , have someone rev the engine for you while you test solenoid,s its a lot easier
