I get more than that out of my 1.8. No less than 460 miles. There's something not right with yours.

Think somethings wrong there mate as i get 550ish miles to a tank not exactly steadily either although before i changed my oil it was around 500 miles to a tank.

I'd say that was about right, low speeds around town hammers economy, my 120 ps is very similar, stop start driving does not equate to high efficiency and I seriously question a 1.8 could achieve more doing the same kind of driving as petrols are inherently more thirsty than diesels particularly in a car weighing 1 1/2 tonnes,as the engine would be having to work much harder than a diesel to achieve the same performance.

rich have you ever thought of stripping your motor of all the mods you have done(back to standard) and i bet you will then get more miles from a full tank

400 miles is normal for me.. for about 55 litre of petrol... (and then im happy) but slow moving traffic is killing for any good MPG

My 1.8 Non VVT can easily do 420 on a tank on a regular basis!
