    Default Crank Shaft Pulley???

Had my crankshaft pulley replaced today and the belt for £150 all in. Was told by Vauxhall this was a common fault. Mines a 2.0 DTi 54 plate with 46,000 miles. Anyone else had this problem??

    Hi
I've just posted a new thread about a vibration/oil seal problem im having from my crank shaft pulley,, can I just ask,, when you say yours "went" do you mean it dropped off? or was it off balance? any symptoms you had? just trying to see if it could be related to my problem

    Cheers
    Pete

Thanks for replies. The pulley was really loose, and the belt had come off. The only warning i got was the air con not working and the car over heating. AA man said the pulley must of moved and the belt slipped off. No mechanical warning wot so ever. Glews Garage at Goole said it was a common fault but the pulley ain't cheap. I paid £105 plus vat for the pulley and belt.

£105 for a belt and pulley is good, Vx charge £172.00 for a pulley and bolt (yes that is bolt and not belt).

The parts i priced up where from Andrew Pages and + VAT. These where not Vaux parts but probably made in the same place just with out the GM stamp!! The spares shop i usually use will be cheaper than this as i get a 10% discount on anythink. Unfortunately i wasn't near home :-(

Mine has just had the crank shaft pulley done again today, was 235 altogether, this is the second time its failed, i had it replaced about a year ago under service agreement, i have a 2.0d hti 54 vectra. the guy in the garage states that this is a common fault on the Y20DTH engine and vx always have a stock of these parts.
