Missing Hubbie

Tom went to see his old mate Fred whom he hadn't seen for a couple of years and when his wife answered the door, told him that Fred had dissapeared last year.

When Tom enquired to how/why etc, she told him that one Sunday when she was making the dinner, she told Fred to go down into the garden and pull a cabbage, off he went and has never been seen since.

Tom said and what did you do! and she said, (wait for it).
