Default newbie saying hi and looking for buying advice

    Hi folks

    Stu from West Midlands here.

Looking at buying a Signum as a second car as it ticks all the right boxes in terms of practicality and the missus will actually drive it.

I am looking at diesel but am a little concerned about the difference in power outputs - its my understanding that the 2.0litre has an output of either 100 or 150 bhp, this seems a hell of a difference and my question is, is the 100 bhp version going to be completely gutless?

I am not looking for anything to be blisteringly quick (remapped C30 Volvo takes care of that!) but I dont want to be constantly ragging the car to make progress - towing a 2 berth caravan will be a possibilty once a year but not an absolute neccessity

Anybody's thoughts / advice would be gratefully recieved

    Cheers

    Stu

    The diesels are either a 2.0 DTi (100hp iirc), 1.9 CDTi (8v 120hp) and 1.9 CDTi (16v 150hp)

If you are not too worried about speed, I would go for the most economical in the 120hp 8v 1.9

I could not agree more, go for the 1.9 120 8v mate, although the 150's are good they have a lot of egr / swirl valve problems.

    Welcome Stu

Try for something less than 3 years old, then your covered by warranty. A frendly macanic is always usfull.

Avoid the 1.9 16v, you'll end up pinching it all the time and you'll have to go car hunting for the Mrs again
