Thumbs down Wiper motor problems **help**

I've been doing a search on the forum and i can't really find my answer.

As some may be away my wipers stopped working coming back from Pompey Sunday night. I thought it was the wiper linkage that had gone. Which was good because i had my spare from a 2007 model.

However, i got it all apart and the wiper linkage was fine. It's even the new style. What has happened is the motor 'bolt' with the splines on is turning but the linkage is not. I took it apart and found that the part of the linkage that fits over the motor 'bolt' has no groves left (to sit over the splines) it's smooth. And the motor 'bolt' has not got a lot of thread left on it so the nut doesn't fit on it properly . Somebody has had this off before

I tried fitting the 'new' linkage (which hasen't got a decent amount of grooves on it either ) and it's done the same thing.

So it looks like i need a new motoe and linkage

Now for my question: How much for the wiper motor (on it's own) from the dealers?

    Thanks

New plan, can anyone tell me if all the wiper motors on the Vectras are the same? I'm just checking that the motor i'm looking at will have all the features / different speeds and settings etc...

I have a part number 93195919 apparently it's for the modified wiper motor. Will this fit my motor?

    Cheers

So you are saying that the splined drive from the motor has worn to such an extent that it no longer drives the linkage mating part?

Easy fix would be to drill a hole through the linkage and into the splin drive on the motor. Then drive a good fitting pin into the hole. I doubt you would be able to drill the motor shaft, as they are normally quite hardened.

I am not familiar with exactly how these 2 parts fit together though.

That's right, but not only that they grooves that are supposed to be in the linakge that fit the splines on the motor are also missing. So i need a new wiper linkage and motor. As a temporary fix i'm getting my mate to put a couple of sport welds to hold the winkage onto the motor (until the new parts turn up).

If you are going to weld the linkage to the motor, then why replace now?? Seems like you are spending money to fix a problem that will no longer exist..... ie motor / linkage interface issues.

Because i've found the parts on eBay cheaper (brand new GM parts) so in the mean time while i wait for them it can we welded together.

Like I said, you are still spending money on a fix to a problem that you have already fixed. Unless you think the items will need changing in the future...
