i have a autocar magazine dated 13 february 2002 with a road test of the "new" vectra 2.2 petrol elite against the mondeo, laguna and primera, any way i thought i would check to see if the car is still on the road, which the car is still taxed till 01/11/09 but it has a 1.7 diesel engine with zero emmisions http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/Evl...vent=link.next so i did a check with the RAC and the car is a viva s74

the cars reg no is KE51HKN

And according to askmid.com, it's on a Vauxhall Combo. I can't see how it could have been on a Viva as they are way too old for a 51 plate. I guess that since they all are Vauxhalls there is a possibility that it is a Vauxhall plate that they have retained, although I can't for the life of me think what is worth haning onto for that registration.

Lots of ways this could be done, but it is not common and is slightly odd.

    Hi Solorider

This will be a VX plate and just swapped between test cars as required
for magazine tests, the RAC result doesn't sit well with that theory but
maybe you've discovered the 'new' small car

I don't think that is how it works.

A car could be declared new, and hence registered with new plate, if (for example) an unregistered body was obtained and a car built. Maybe even Single Vehicle Approval was sought, hence the zero emissions.

the reason why the vehicle has zero emmisions is that it is a van, vans are not taxed by emmisions, why the rac web site says it is a viva i dont know,at the time of the post i did not know the vehicle was a van
