    Default aux belt squeaking.

Hi, my vecy 1.9cdti 120 has developed a squeak or twittering from the aux drive belt from cold, it had it before & after i changed the belt & tensioner. It goes off afer about 10 mins but it does my head in when driving. i read somewhere that the pulley grooves get polished by the belt after a while & this can cause the noise. i called the dealers & a guy said to give it a squirt of WD40, this actually works for a few minutes but it comes back. i was wondering if anyone has had similar issues that they've managed to reslove. i'm to skint to take it to the stealers cos i've just forked out for a new timing belt kit & water pump this month + a knackered glow plug.

    Cheers

had this on my 2.2 direct, took it to stealers who replaced timing chain and it was still makin the noise so i took it back and they then decided to change the balance chain (luckily all under network q warranty), got it back and its still doing it, so i just put up with it now but it annoys the hell out of me.it did stop for a while when i got it back but so obviously with them taking the belt off and putting it back on it sorted it for a while, i might try the wd40 idea myself.

Put a dab of grease on grooves on one of the pulley's, and let it work around.
