Auto Box - Jumping and missing gears

Hi Guys


Right this problem has just started when the car is on a long run and as you might expect an automatic box would have a smooth gear change. But no its seams to be jumping or like a surge when coming from a standing start as it is the worse from the standing start. But on the motorway as will it still Jumps Like I say not a smooth Change.

It actually seams that’s it missing the gear and then engaging once the computer realises it hasn’t fully engaged the automatic box making it not a smooth transition when accelerating. As when it is cold it doesn’t do it now hopefully is just a sensor that has gone T$Ts up and not the gear box.

Any help would be appreciated or suggestions to why that is happening

Mine was doing the same a update of the software Via Tech 2 fixed the problem for me

How much did the tech 2 update cost you to do?

First thing I'd check, and it's free, is the fluid level.

Has the oil ever been changed? VX recommend every 40k miles so yours should be on it's second change.

No lift required, just a trolley jack and stand to get to drain plug and then fill through engine bay. Did mine with the use of Haynes manual. Although the haynes doesn't cover the 3.2V6 petrol or 3.0CDTi, it does cover the AF33 gear box which I believe yours is. Total cost for 4lt of fluid will be about £30 (from Parts for Saabs http://www.partsforsaabs.com/product...oducts_id=3454) and 2 hours of your time. Most of this time is topping up the fluid and road tests to get the level spot on.

yeah i changed the oil levels and it seams to have stopped it.
