Default Hard to get hold of?

    Hello

I am in need of a liitle advice from those who have experience of getting hold of car parts,

Bought the car on the 30/03/09

After 9 days I have problems with the EGR valve,
I took the car back to the Garage, they got there computer out and problems show that it is the EGR valve, or at least a fault with it.

He removed the EGR and proceeded to clean it, (not solenoid) when repaced it did work a little better, he said it would be fine to use untill they got a replacement egr valve.

That day I only just managed to get home.

Easter weekend passed then I decided to have the car taken back upto the Garage on with the help of a recovery vehicle, this was the 14th of this month, but the initial time of looking for the part was the 8th, I phoned last wednesday when they said it would be thursday or friday, only to be told it would be monday, I phoned this morning and they told me it would be friday if they cant get the part today.

Basically I am very unhappy! how difficult is it to get hold of a egr valve and if not why would a garage be feeding me bull #@#@

I would be very gratefull for your help on this issue of mine.

just ring a number of different garages and ask them if they have the part..or ask how long..
most vx garages are chains anyway so if they have group stock at a different branch, they should be able to have the part sent to your garage

    Is it a VX dealer?

If not, ring the local dealer and ask them if they have one or how long. Then ring your garage with these details. . . . .

I think I've seen other folk saying these take a wee while to come in because they are quite a "popular" part (ie a lot of demand)

most vauxhall dealers are not chains, there are a few but not most, but all dealers can do a dealer check,it is not 100% accurate as the database only gets updated every few days

I had mine replaced under warranty in February this year and had to wait 3 working days for it to arrive. Other than that no real delays.

Mine went recently, was told 5ish days as they are majorly on back order. They took mine off and cleaned it and 2 days later a new one arrived they were happy about having to do the extra work, not. All in all 3 days but as i say even the dealers were told realisticly it was going to be a working week before they could get one.

    ... Have you tried LMF?

When my local dealers cant get parts, theyve nearly always come up trumps!
