    Default Advice needed on Tyres

    Hi All

    Firstly thanks for viewing

I have just recently picked my car up from the Car People, after its first really good wash and polish, i noticed that one of the tyres were nearly Illegal..... I'm gonna pursue this with them.
Anyway, what are the best tyres for my 1.9CDTI Auto Elite, with previous cars i have used Avon's, Yokohama, Toyo, Nankang and even Hankook.

The tyres that are on at the mo are Bridgestone Potenza ( unsure if thats from new) what tyres do you run on and how do they perform in wet / dry conditions and how long in miles ( Approx ) do they last.

    Cheers
    Pete

When you say 'best' what do you mean?

Wet grip, dry grip, wear rate, straight line stopping, corning grip, side load deformation, road noise, cost etc etc ? ? ?

Need to understand what you need before any suggestions can be made.

I think Falkens are good mix of reasonable all round performance vs cost.

Uniroyal Rainsport 2 , awsome tyre, great mix of Wet grip, dry grip, wear rate, straight line stopping, corning grip and they aint the most expensive, really are good m8, lots of people on the forum will swear by them, just finished a set of Eagle F1's and they were great in the dry, not so in the wet

Uniroyal Rainsport 2 all the way - quiet, perfect grip wet or dry and I should see 18k miles on the fronts before they get to 3mm on a heavy 3.2 GSi.

I'm going for the Vredestien sessanta when I replace my 19's with 18's..

They have excellent reviews, and seem to have come out better than most in wet conditions..

Coming a highly comendable 2nd place in this years EVO tyre tests scoring an overall 95.3%, the Ultrac Sessanta was the choice of both EVO testers, Jethro Bovingdon and John Barker, on the road being praised for their absorbent, quiet ride and smooth, nicely detailed steering.

    From EVO's wet handling test
'it was the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta that proved the tester's favourite. "Superb," said Bovingdon. "Heavy steering but backed up by strong turn-in and the ability to give more bite if you need it. Very good traction"'

    From EVO's aquaplane testing
'In the straight line test, the majority of the tyres are within 5% of the Dunlop's performance, but on the wetted curve the spread is much higher, though this is largely due to an exceptional performance from the Vredestein. A star performer in the wet handling tests, the 'Giugiaro Design' Ultrac Sessanta leaves the rest in it's wake, the Bridgestone being the best of the rest some 17% down."

Too ****ing right (**** were put in by me, not the swearfilter)

Got mine from camskill (225/45/17) for something like £74 each. They're not listed so you'll need to phone/email them for a quote.
