    Default 3 year 40 k service ?

Whats required on this service ? Just made redundant on last in first out ( they fixed it ) and no payout as only been there 16 months so money gonna be tight.

Is it just oil and filters ? Car is 1.8 vvti ( 140 bhp ) on the longlife service. Cannot find a service pack for this one on ebay and also misplaced my handbook Also is it best for VX oil ?

    Thanks in advance

Firstly, redundancy has to be done on need and not on last in, first out. Remember, the position is made redundant, not the person. Maybe some sort of explanation is needed as to the redundancy selection process, and maybe some legal / CAB advise would be a good idea.

I don't have my service book here either.

Don't let them just shove you out. Take some legal advice.

If you have house insurance sometimes you get free legal advice as part of that. Check your policy & good luck.

Regarding the service i would ring a few different steealers as they all charge different prices for the same service.

Gents, thanks for your concern, been through all that, it's so difficult to prove as they score you on a matrix, any payout taking them to court would be minimal and any future employer that gets in touch with previous employers would not be keen on taking me on. If I didn't have a family, believe me, I would but I have to think about them and I hate saying it but as much as it's wrong I just got to accept it.

Just need to know service details so I may be able to do them myself

Already painted the bathroom, gotta get a job cos she got a list a bl**dy mile long

At 40,000, and on an extreme budget

    I would do

    Oil and filter
Remove and clean the air filter debris and refit the old one
    Same with pollen filter

    That's about it.

Plugs are good for 80K, cambelt would be advised at 40K - but maybe funds can't stretch that far.

Everything else is examine and check, eg brake pads, fluids, etc

3 yr 40k service is only a minor one any way but they do recomend doing the plugs at this one, apart from that as has ben said change oil and filter and general level checks!

Service interval on plugs is 80K on my non VVTi, so I assume the VVTi is the same.

At three years / 40K miles the car may still be under warranty
I would therefore avoid the cambelt at this stage, but certainly consider it for the next service at four years / 60K miles
The 40K mile service is normally everything, except plugs and cambelt

As far as I am aware the plugs are due on the vvti at 40k which is why I mentioned it just had 30k service done on mine and was told it needs to go back at 40k for the plugs, may be wrong but this is what they said, I have a feeling it dos say this somewhere else too just cant remember where I read it!
