Thumbs up Rant, but happy rant!

    Hiya all!

Test drove an 2006 astr cdti today.

it was awesome - i didnt know diesels can be such fun! :-)

So impressed i popped a deposit down! Yay! (Anyone want a signum?)

Done 30K miles, design spec, with extra VXR bits, think it was called Moon shine, colour wise.

Well well happy! Its a 1.9 cdti, with loads of trimmings!

    I want it nowwwwwwwwwwwww!!!

    Ttfn!

Was it the 150 PS 6 speed one?

I think the colour is Moon land?

They do go like stink, I had one as a hire car and was completely impressed by it.

The sport button changes the throttle position scaling and dampening of the signal too.

I've driven both 120 & 150 ps. both very nippy and a little quicker than the veccy due to lower weight (to be expected). But needed the room so got a veccy myself...150 of course....shame no SPORT button tho

I've got the sports button on mine,(Vec SRi Nav XP Estate 1.9cdti (150)) and you can really notice the difference in throttle and steering settings when its on

The Astra 120's are different to the Vecs 120 is that on the vec you only get 8v, not really a bad thing on a oil burner as 8v can give better torque. But on the astra, all the CDTi's are 16v like the vec 1.9 150, and the map is just different, so you can map it to the same levels as the 150 vec/astra CDTi's with a map. There is a change over however, either the older Astras were 8v ore the newer not to sure which way round. Take a look under the bonnet for the tell tail oil filler cap and you could be in for a bigger treat than you expect with a map.

Got to say, they are nice cars to drive, you sit lower and the dash is more in your eye line which is something I liked. Gets some pics up mate, it sounds a nice motor.
