    Default Fuel gauge

    vectra 3.0 v6 cdti gauge not working??? have put new sender in tank to no avail, garage reckons its bhind the dash problem and its exchange speedo head?? any ideas? supposed to be a common prob

    They should be able to plug it into there tech-2 and do a gauge sweep which basicly makes all the gauges do a test sweep. If the fuel gauge still does'nt move when they test this then it will be a dash cluster you'll be needing.

    What is the input signal from the fuel level sender unit?

    In olden times the sender was simply a variable resistor to ground, so earthing the wire would show full gauge deflection. I don't know if Vecs are the same, or whether the input signal is now more complex.

    If this were the case then it would show if the gauge worked.
