are you gonna pain the standard grey plastic ones?
or respraying already painted ones?
if your not used to spraing get it done by a pro as you wont get the same finish as the paint on the car, so it will stick out like a saw thumb!
Its the Black plastic ones ive done some spraying before and its turns out ok will post some pics tomorrow of rear bumper trim
You can get a really good finish with spray cans beleive me I have just done a whole SRi bumper, sideskirts, mudflaps and VXR insert.
Give them a really good clean, sand them down with fine wet and dry (i used 600 grit).
Ideally you need to use a plastic adhesion promoter before primer so that it sticks to the plastic. Then a coat or three of plastic primer, let it dry, sand with 1500grit wet and dry and on with the colour letting each coat dry and then sand with 1500 again between coats(if metallic dont sand the final coat of colour, I have been told that if you do the sand marks show through the laquer more with metallic colours).
Then laquer, the more coats the better but let the colour coat dry properly before laquering, if you dont the solvents in the laquer can leach through to the colour and it will appear darker.
Then let the laquer dry/harden for at least 3/4 days in a warm environment, then use rubbing compound to remove surface imperfections like slight orange peel!!
Have a look here at the results I got with aerosols on my bumper!!

davree your a star mine is ultra blue its pearlescent so would you skip the wet & dry and just laquer ?
It depends really, if you have a descent finish on the colour anyway, you could skip it but if the paint is "lumpy" you could give it a light wet and dry with 2000 grit, the problem with side skirts is they are slightly textured anyway so to get a perfectly smooth finish you would need to completely sand the texture off first.
Personally I wouldn't bother as if the sand marks show through the laquer you will have to sand down and apply another coat of colour anyway.

Just spraying my VXR spoiler 1st then will move on to Side skirts ive got the new lugs 30 of them so its just a case of finishing spoiler and maybe doing one side at a time
How many cans of spray did you use on the bumper ?
i just done my grill it cans and got a great finish made up with the job just takes time to get a decent finish not worth rushing it at all
