have you tried local scrap yards
PM Duncan about Turbo Technics mate, you might save a packet...
didn't Duncan have one from when he upgraded to stage 3 BSR????
As Penfold posted, you can get it serviced/reconditioned by TT - did a great job on mine as you can see. It was a minor thing on mine - wastegate disc coming detached from arm - but it also got a full bearings/seal service when it was in.
What exactly are the reasons for the diagnosis you've been given that the turbo is goosed? i.e. what have they done to actually come to that conclusion?
Well tbh that was a five minute diagnosis, not actually sure how serverly damaged it is yet, the garage was flat when i rolled up, so its booked in for Mon 8am. I'll know more then. There was blue smoke pouring out the exhaust at one point, but then it seemed to die down a bit.
would the turbo be the same as a petrol astra mk5 sri turbo?
as there was a burnt one in our local scrappy ( engine bay not that bad)...i seen it about 2 weeks a go but it could be still there, just a thought
The blue smoke doesn't sound good!, but you need a definite diagnosis that it's goosed - not just a 5 minute job.
It could just be the seals in the turbo that have gone, allowing oil to get burnt hence the smoke and the fact that it's not continuous makes that look the more likely cause.
If that's what it is then it should be an easy fix with TT - the PITA is the removing of and refitting of the turbo. If someone does that for you it's going to cost a fair bit. If you were closer I'd have taken it out for you - especially as I'm in the process of putting mine back in again fater sorting out a broken stud that the exhaust attaches to so all the procedure is very fresh in my mind! lol
BR - no, completely different turbo. Only used on the Z20NET.
