GM had one in the mid 90's called the EV1 and could do 0-60 in about 8 seconds.

Considering all the money they get from fuel tax VAT & VED, how are they going to pay for the NHS etc if we starting using electric cars?

yep called electric road fuel tax.

they reckon the new hybrid electric cars will be £20k to £25k

and your electric bill going up 3k a year.

I'd quite happily spend 3K a year on electric for my car, instead of the 3K + I spend on petrol doing 30K a year, and also know that there was no pollution from my car - only from far more efficient power plants.
