Eek IMPORTANT: Info regarding 314mm Brake Setup! Please read!

it's official - the 16" steel wheel most of us (who haven't gotten around to getting a full size spare yet...) keep in the boot WILL fit over the 314mm brakes. I tried it today while I had my wheels off cleaning them, and there is *this* much space between the caliper and the wheel.

The reason I say *this* much space, and not give an accurate measurement, is due to there not being a small enough unit of measurement in existence to describe just HOW close the wheel is to the caliper itself...

Having used the space saver before in an emergency...

...and discovering just how ridiculous it is, I'm ashamed that 15 months later I still haven't replaced it with a full size spare, but it's nice to know that it will fit over my brakes in the event I need it, and that I won't be stuck having to swap the rear wheel to the front so the spare can go on the back...

    It's a service I provide...

On my normal 17" alloys there's at least half an inch, if not more, between the caliper and the alloy. I've no idea if you put weights on the space saver, but you wouldn't be going fast enough to warrant them I'd imagine...

isn't this old news? My v6 diesel has them and the space saver from the factory. Also no room in the siggy for a full size spare.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Quite possibly. I don't have a V6 though, so I didn't know if it had a different size space saver and it was something that had bothered me for a while since I fitted the 314's...

I know. I’m in the middle of a brake upgrade process, and I just discovered that all Vectras (except VXR/OPC) with 314 brakes have type approval from GM with 16 inch wheels !
