Don't think mine have been changed yet either Pete and she's on 45k with loads of meat left on both front and rear pads.

I suppose it depends how you drive the car.

just wondering about the rears , as the handbrake seems to have a fair bit of travel in it.

My rear pads lasted to 75K, front to 78K. All discs are original at 108K, although I did need to change the rears again at 102K, as the spring retainer had removed itself and caused uneven wear to the pad.

    On a 1.8, I would expect :
Front pads to last 40K miles, front discs 80K miles
Rear pads to last 40K miles, rear discs 60K miles

You can get up to three sets of pads on the front discs
Rear discs are known for premature failure, well known to fail before 40K miles, however the replacements can last much longer!

what would a garage charge to change a set of rear pads?

The best thing is to phone at least three and get quotes, but I would estimate between £60 and £90
Parts would be about £25 and about an hours labour (approx £50)
