well it might be.. but dont think ill get the missus to sit in the middel in the back (i have 3 kids in chairs).. and i dont want a zafira.. so i have to use the car as it is.. and need to use the middel in the back.

..and that's when the fight started! lol

Fair enough and I can see your reasons why. It was more of an question/my understanding as opposed to any sort of 'point making'

I don't know why they don't recommend the middle seat when it's got a proper three point seat belt. I can only guess it's because the seat base is flat and not shaped like the outer two so doesn't give as much stability?

ohhh yes the fight start its nealy allways me driving.. she has agreed to sit in the back when going to paris this summer will be a long drive for the missus

but when you have 3 chairs in the back.. actually you have stability... non of them can move a inch.. and if using the seatbelts.. its a pain to get between the seats with your hand/fingers...

Digging up a topic from 2.5years back, but what the hell Did anyone find a way to fit three child seats in the back of a VC (2008 5-door hatchback)? If so, I'd be more than happy to hear how and what seats they got installed (isofix or not?)? Also - I find the argument about the middle rear seat not being recommended for fitting baby seats ridiculous - the rear middle seat is the safest place to put a baby in you car. Why the hell would it not be recommended to do so?

If you go to recaro website, there's a tool to look up what car models permit what child seat configuration with respect to isofix mouting points. I found the study of that topic somewhat intriguing - it seems as though a vast majority of cars have only got isofix fittings on the outer back seats. That includes most minivans, and even some full-blown vans (chrysler voyager! sic!). How can one even call these things family cars, if they offer no extra benefit over a standard saloon for a family with more than 2 kids, with respect to safety of children?

    Cheers,
    Chris

Thanks for your reply. However this is not an option for us right now - my older girl is roughly 95cm tall, so she's not tall enough for a booster cushion. I'm curious as to whether it would be possible to get a recaro milano seat between two others on isofix - it's really narrow for a 2/3group seat measuring only about 39 cm in width. My only local child seat store that permits testing the seats in a client's car doesn't have them however WTF... (as in Welcome To France)

you could get 3 seats in the back.. but you cant use the ISO fix.. as the iso-fix brackets are to much to the center.. but without using the iso-fix it is possible.. (been there done that), but as mine is now become older ive change the setup..

If not using ISO-fix you will gain about 4 cm on each side så the center one become more wide. and you could even more them further out, but then you have to use something to lift the chair, as the backseat rises up a bit..

but be ready to get your hands scraped.. when trying to use the seatbelts... (ive bought seatbelt extencions for the same reason.. had to be slightly modified, but works as a charm, even the MOT inspector here said okay for them)
