    Default Speed limit question

If you have to be doing the speed limit by the time you reach a sign, ie 60 to 30, then why once you see a sign carnt you do it oposite way round? ie 30 to 60. even if it ment having signs further from villages ect. WHY didnt they do this from the start? just something ive never got my head round, i dont think its logic at all, carnt just be me guys.

yes but to slow down you have to be doing it at the sign, but to speed up it has to be after the sign, why carnt you be at speed once you can see the sign as you have to be slowing down?

think about it, different people would say they could see the sign from diff distances, they put the sign up at the point where they consider its safe to accelerate from, and the point where you need to be at the lower speed from. Most people do just what your suggesting anyway - once you see the sign you start to pick up / slow down. If it bugs you that much start a campaign and contact your MP !

The current system is perfectly logical and reasonable. Ie the signs show where the limits are in force.
You can drive up to the sign at 60mph and then brake very sharply to get down to the limit, or the other way, drive up to the sign and then accelerate very aggressively as you pass it.

What happens if the sign if visible for several hundred metres? Would it mean that you can start to accelerate well before the sign? Wouldn't work in practice, and the current system is clear, IMO, so why try to chenage it to something slightly strange?

Or Nitros Oxide in your motor then you can forget about the acceleration bit and hold on

If you are in the 60mph zone, then you can be at any speed up to 60mph, and this includes decelerating for a change of speed limit

If you are in the 30mph zone, you MUST NOT exceed that speed limit, then you can increase your speed at any time once you are in the 60mph zone

However, ensure that the 60mph zone is correctly signed, as per the TSRGD
If it is NOT then either the 30mph speed limit (if street lighting) or NSL (no street lighting) will apply
I have found a few rounds in North Lanarkshire which do not meet the TSRGD and they are investigating why this has happened
As a result what appears to be a 30 or 40 mph is NOT!
Equally, there is one road that should be NSL, but as it has street lighting has to currently be treated as 30mph
