    Default Towbar 13pin connector on signum/vectra c

    Hi all,

Anyone know how to wire up a 13pin socket?

I have the 12pin wiring kit with vauxhall relay all wired up, but i need the 13 pin one instead so that my caravan will not brake when in reverse this is a right pain in the ass.

    Anyone?

Affectivly just need to know if there is a way i can wire up, reverse, 12v permanent and 12v switched, plus a good earth(which i'll take from the boot floor probably)

    It is on a signum.

    Thanks

    Hi jamesworts

On 13 pin towing sockets only 12 pins are used as one is unallocated so you have the right peice of kit.
The VX plug in module into the rear wheel arch fuse board is straightforward for the road lights (12N equivalent is all I've used)
I'd guess the other half of kit (12S) plugs into the connector in the spare wheel well but I'm not sure about that.
I really wouldn't bother trying to just tap into those bits you think you need as some of the wiring is Canbus and you'd need a
bypass relay and signalling wires - VX kit has to be easier.

I don't understand what you mean about brake in reverse as auto reverse brakes are just a mechanical device in the caravan
hubs (or a lever on the damper if really ancient).

I have one with some kind of latch that is powered by reverse.

Vauxhall apparently dont do a 13pin kit for it.

    cheers

    Hi jamesworts

What van and what does the 'latch' do?
The only powered bits on a van I know of is ALKO ATC (auto trailer control) which is supposed to stop snaking
    - these work on 2x7 pin or 13pin (wired 12), or do you mean a fog lamp cutout to stop the rear foglights lighting
up the front of the van and blinding you? (A tech2 switch I believe).

Just use the VX kit then, the 13 pin electrics work so much better than the old 2x7pin with no pin burnout and 13pin doesn't drive the bulb failure mad either.
My Signum is 2x7 and bulb warnings are a pain in the arris and when I get round to it I will swap to 13 pin, I have the socket and will just swap wires from the
2x7 to 13pin (leaving 12N on so my trailer still works) but I need to source decent 13core for the van with correct number of heavy and light cores - seems
most suppliers have poxy thin cable for all - fridge wont cool or battery charge well!

PS does your van have reversing lights, mine doesn't and it isn't legally required (unless fitted)
