    Talking 1.8 induction

hi all i own a 1.8 veccy c i need some help on improving that throttle response as its sluggish and as a huge flat spot i got told that there wasnt a k & n cone filter but a panel filter whats the best option and for anyone out there with a 1.8 veccy dont you think these drink the fuel when you boot it

I drive a 2006 Vec C 1.8 and I know what you mean about flat spots and mods to improve power and speed.

I got a K&N Panel filter and that seemed to give it a bit of extra kick, especially when blasting through the gears.

Its hard to get much else. Chippeduk do a remap for about £175-£200 which they say they can get between 7hp and 12hp out of the engine and I am still waiting to here back from the VXR Performance Centre to see if they can do anything.

I get about 400 miles to a full tank which I don't think is too bad.

Hi, I also have a 1.8, I fitted an ITG foam panel filter. I also did the mod on the lower part of airbox. Seems to have improved response and I get about 380 - 400 miles to a tank.
    See link below for details.

I'm sure Payney has fitted an induction kit to his 1.8 chaps. Have a chat with him or Big Phil, as I think he gave him a hand.

    Wink

well yes i have fitted a cone fillter to my 1.8 sri and the results are fab well chuffed with it as well as the deep throated noise coming from the engine now that it's settled and the mix between the air and fuel is now established i get better mpg than before which is great in my book.
i killed the flat spots that i had previously ,and improved throttle response.
i have plans to further feed the cone with a cold air filter feed so hopefully it will work a lot better cheers.

at a guess i would say to you get yourself a panel filter and do the air box mod ,but i wanted to be different so i've done this at the end of the day it's a 1.8 so you really can't do a hell of a lot to improve bhp figures ,i have plans to remap sometime soon and then rolling road test it but will wait and see.

Yes it is bacause it's a sealed unit, you might hear a bit of induction roar if you're stood in front of the air intake, but that's probably not a wise place to be standing!

I have the K&N open cone system and the induction noise is fantastic. Only problem I find is that on a long run, over an hour or two, the whole engine bay heats up to a point where the cold air feed is not enough and you can find the power down a little, not enough to worry about though. Can sort that out with an extra air feed from the front grille somewhere.
