The 215 50 17 is the standard tyre for Vectra C 17" wheels, and 225 45 17" are a european fitment for Vectra, so is also OK.

But it is not advised to fit both sizes to one car.

The Vectra C has different tyre size groups that can be programmed using Tech 2.

    205 55 16", 215 50 17, 225 45 18" and 235 35 19" are in one group and 225 45 17" is in another.

If you fit 225 45 17" all round, you can change the tyre group on tech 2, as this will ensure the speedo is correct.

Having different rolling radius on the front to back 'could' turn on the ABS light as the ABS will sense different speeds from the front and rear.

    So if you

The above is not 100% true. You can fit them but make sure the sizes stay the same on each axle. i.e 225's on the front and the 215's on the rear. NOT one on each axle, DO NOT mix and match on the axle

It will not put the abs light on as I ran mine like that for a year when changing sizes with NO problems what so ever

(also imo no real need for the tech 2 as there is so little difference in size. Just a waste of money unless you can get it done for free)
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I've had 215's on the front and 225's on the rear for a year now without any problem whatsoever. To mix sizes on the same axle is not advisable but having a mix of the two sizes (one on each axle) is perfectly alright and legal. I will be replacing my 215's with 225's when they need replacing, so I will have 225's all round in due course.

I currently have these alloys they have the standard 215/50/17 tyres on, can i fit 225/45/17 tyres on them?

As i'm looking for abit more grip and slightly harder ride.
