Default Speedo / Rev counter etc

I have noticed that some Vec C's have chrome rings around the dials etc on the Speedo instruments.

Are they coded to the ecu / car etc?

No but mileage is recorded on speedo and in ECU/CHIP iirc
You can buy one from ebay or such like and as long as you get the correct top speed/revs as some are different you should be able to swap them without any problems
All though you will have to get a digital mileage correction company to adjust the readings from milage stored in car and on new speedo this is around £100 mark HTH

The instrument panel is paired with the car with it's security code.

You will need to 'divorce' the instrument panel from the donar car with tech 2 or it will not work in your own car.

Also pre-facelift cars will not be compatible with the later canbus cars from facelift onwards.

Not meaning to sound funny but how do you make out they are tech2 to car ? i was on the understanding that they are a straight swap (as i have all so fitted sri clocks to mine with no problems what so ever) i just have to pay to get mileage sorted out.
And your right about preface and facelift speedo's you cant fit a facelift into a preface and vice verse due to there being no small window in rev counter on facelift speedo's

    hi
they are tech2,d to the car but will swap over and you will loose some functions seatbelt warning, next service due and you cant get them to work unless its been tech2'd out of the original car.

they are a straight swop ..you will loose some fuctions ..but the time to worry is when you come to replace another control unit the imobo system wouldnt like them and you would need to replace them with a new unit after all unless the car is useless...............

humm hans_vledder changed his, got the counter put to correct milage. and afterwards went to the stealers, and had some stuff disabled via tech2. hi didnt loose any thing.

So if they are saying its coded (locked to the car). they are full of ********.. it can be changed if they want to.. but always easy just to say its locked.. in hope of selling new one..

the fun part go to a stealer to say thats there a malfunktions that it has dropped a bit.. (dont say you change the speedo) then they funny enouhg can code it..
