Default 1.9 CDTI Lumpy Running at Idle

    Guys,

    Hope you can help.

I'm having a little problem with my engine running a little lumpy at idle, if I touch the throttle to just over 1000 RPM, it feels like it is going to shake itself apart.

But when its running, it feels smooth as silk, and doesnt feel like there is a lack of power.

If I put the clutch down at idle, it doesnt make a bit of difference.

I changed the wiring to the 3rd injector (By the way guys, when you pick up a soldering iron, make sure you grab the handle, and not the shaft! I have 2 nice blisters to show for it!)

I also have a spanner light at startup when the engine is cold (Glow plugs I think, but will find out on Wednesday after a session on tech2), but the problem has been present before the spanner.

    Any ideas?

    Daz

bag of bolts at idle speed that goes away when clutch is depressed sounds like you need a new fly-wheel. The dual mass one may have separated. Not as bad as it sounds, but it'll need doing.

Mine is a little lump at idle, bit it goes within a minute or so.

No warning lights, and using the clutch doesnt make any difference.
I've put it down to the fact that its a diesel as opposed to Petrol engine.

Soon as you go to move away after that 1st minute, it's fine, revs beautifully, and gear change/clutch use is spot on.

I took mine into VX last week, and mentioned the fact that i think theres an issue with the EGR valve.

They said that they had checked that along with the turbo, and there were no issues, or fault codes presented.

What i was also trying to get through to them, was that, that doesnt tell you if there is soot build up in the damn valve!
