Default Warranty / DMF / Clutch Rattle

Noticed a slight rattle when the clutch is at bite point (but in Neutral).

Searched the forums but couldnt find a specific answer. I have a 55-plate CDTi (150 / Facelift) thats only done 42k.

If I took it to the dealer, could the DMF/clutch etc be replaced under warranty as the car hasnt done 60k yet?

Its not a bad rattle, once the car is warmed up, and stationary at traffic lights etc, you cant hear anything at all - sounds perfect. Reading through the threads it seems as if its "hit and miss" with regard to whether the DMF is actually going to crap out - and the good old saying of "if it aint broke dont fix it" springs to mind.

Last thing I want is to send it for work at the dealer and it emerges with more problems than when it went in!

Any advice/tips/voices of experience would be welcome.

Sounds to me like the DMF.

If it's the DMF, then the noise will be really loud. When it went on mine, I was having to switch the engine off when waiting for fares because it was so loud.

Personally, I know nothing about getting work done on cars under warranty. I always rip the warranty up the day I put the taxi plate on...

Thats just it - there's a rattle/noise, just not loud enough to get you worried by it.

I know that thats not really a good indicator of how "healthy" the DMF is, and for all I know it could die tomorrow - or it could be perfectly okay for a gajillion years without any hassle...

Yes full/up to date VX history - I'll ask the question Tuesday - worst they can say is no, followed by partial costs covered.

Heck, if its the case they wont do it, there's plenty of other suitable places that will fix it for far less than some of the prices quoted in threads I have read!

I'd say find a good independent Vauxhall specialist (i.e. non-dealer) and get it done there if it has to be done. They usually offer better advice too IMO.

We use a small independent with ex-VXL techs and save a few hundred pounds on jobs such as this.

Yep thats what I'll do - as said, the noise is random and not like that experienced by other members in threads I have read...so fingers crossed I may be a lucky one...
