    Default Bluefin for diesels ???

Just seen this on Thorneys site

    http://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/t...emapping.shtml

Was pestering superchips about this last year with no results, but seems Thorney have come up trumps.

Anyone tried or heard more about this ?

Looks good, Its also a good thing that these hand held DIY units are becoming more commonplace now as more companies seem to be offering these for sale..

Shame they have no details of Torque and Bhp increases on the site, would be interested to see what they put out on the 1.9cdti 150..

I have Bluefin on our Freelander 2. It is brilliant.

I initially bought it for our A3 2.0T, but when I sold the A3, I spoke to Superchips and they re-configured it for our Freelander without charge. This is where they score against BSR.

As Bluefin is a Superchips product which Thorney badge as their own, it would be worthwhile to speak to Superchips first about the Bluefin.

    But they are very good.

Yeah I agree Matt, It can't cost much (if anything) to unlock the PPC unit to allow it to be used on antoher car.. All they have to do is lock the PPC to the cars VIN, then when you sell the car, let them know what the new car is and its VIN and away you go.. As more and more hand held units come into the market I think BSR will have to do this otherwise they will be losing out to those that allow unit / car transfer..

Like I said, I have spoken to Superchips about it, and they said they will be doing a bluefin but not till the latter part of the year.

I have e-mailed Thorney for some more specs, I am quite sure on the VXR's it is their own custom maps written by Superchips for Thorney, so differ from the Superchips slightly, so I would assume this should still be the case for the Diesels (well my fingers are crossed)

That might be a good thing then, as Superchips remaps have always been known for being on the conservative side compared to other well known remapping companies..

I tried to set up a dual rolling road & tuning meet at Thorney's, But John Thorne STILL hasn't replied to my emails (said he would let me know dates we could attend by the end of JAN!), he might have been able to shift a few of these units to Vec-C members, the idea was a tuning meet one week and a rolling road meet a couple of weeks later to let the remaps, exhausts, suspension etc settle..

I would take what Thorney says with a pinch of salt. A couple of years ago they said they had a 300bhp re-map for the Vectra VXR.

When I was at Superchips talking to their technical director Jamie Turvey, he said I doubt it as they had not done a 300bhp map yet.

Personally I would not touch Thorney motorsport.

That does'nt suprise me to be honest. It about sums them up. They do think they are bigger and better than every other tuner.

I'll let you know Pete, I still have the PPC from my Astra and am talking to Juston about having it re-configured for my car. It's not looking good though.
