Default 2.2 Petrol SRi fast 1st -> 2nd gear change

Anyone find that the car holds back like a miss fire (but not) when doing a fast 1st to 2nd change as if you were doing a 0-60 run.

TC light is not coming on but feels like it is, will turn it off later and try but its always done it.

It only does it when the throttle is slammed to the floor, could this be the drive by wire?

    Anyone.

Had exactly the same problem with my 2.2 Petrol.

I was told the 'hestitancy' was due to Vauxhalls - 'Fly by wire' electronic throttle control.

There was always a 'dead' spot when changing gear quickly... really p!ssed me off at first.. then I got used to it.

New Vectra Facelift CDTi doesnt have this issue thankfully

    Thanks, yeah drive by wire.

Have got used to it and makes me change gear slower which will help me protect the box which is a good thing.

Glad yours if fine but is that the cdti control. I've driven astra cdti's and they are fine, so it might be a 2.2 petrol thingy anyone with the 2.2 direct engine get it.

Can't say i've ever noticed this on my 2.2, I think smoothness rather than speed is the key. I can get away real quick if i'm smooth, drop the hammer too quick and TC just kills it. I reckon TC might be your problem though, it may be that it's just about cutting in but not so much as to show the light, if you see what i mean.

I can definitely get a much quicker/smoother change on my petrol 3.2 V6 with traction control turned off. I reckon the traction control backs off the engine torque too much/for too long when the wheels start slipping...
